Walls of Honor - Chad Watson

Thank you! Your past sponsorship of the Run Forrest Run 5/10K has made it possible for the Garry Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program to build over 60 specially adapted smart homes for our Nation’s severely wounded veterans and first responders.

When USMC Cpl. Chad Watson spoke at the Opening Ceremony of the fourth Run Forrest Run 5/10K in 2018, he touched on what being a R.I.S.E. home recipient meant to his family. For example, everyday tasks we take for granted, such as safely maneuvering in the shower, pose significant challenges for a wounded veteran. The specially adapted R.I.S.E. home accommodates Chad’s serious injuries received while on deployment in Fallujah, Iraq.

The Watson home dedication took place on October 17, 2019 where supporters gathered in front of a giant American flag blocking the view of the completed home. The Gary Sinise Foundation spoke about Chad and his selfless service to our Country. Chad’s wife, Jillian, expressed their gratitude and at the end of the ceremony  the Watson kids yelled, “Move that flag!” There were many special touches added to the home including a stone from the Pentagon placed near the front walkway.

The next Run Forrest Run 5/10K is scheduled for March 28, 2020 on the campus of Notre Dame. We hope you will be able to partner with us to help restore independence in the lives of these injured heroes. We are very excited to welcome U.S. Army Master Sgt. Cedric King, from the GSF’s Ambassador’s Council as this year’s speaker. As Gary Sinise says, While we can never do enough for our defenders and their loved ones, we can always do a little more.”
