Race Day Details - April 22, 2017 9:15am EST Opening Ceremony
Plan to join us for the Post-Race Celebration immediately following the race. There will be food for participants from our sponsors Jimmy John's, Papa John's Pizza, Einstein Bros Bagels, Meijer, & Costco!
Speakers: Amassadors from the Gary Sinise Foundation
Medal of Honor Recipient Sammy L. Davis, will attend and speak following the race. Sammy was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Johnson. In fact, the real footage of Sammy receiving his award was used in the movie "Forrest Gump" with Tom Hanks' head superimposed. The movie borrows some facts from Sammy's heroics in Vietnam. MSG John Masson, ret. Army Special Forces will speak & also handcycle the course during the race. John has overcome serious combat injuries to also complete the NYC, Chicago & LA Marathons. bio here

Date: Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 9:30 am. EST (Friends coming in from Chicago, we are 1 hour ahead!!)
Location: University of Notre Dame's campus; between south Library Quad & the north Stadium entrance
on Moose Krause Circle..
Packet Pickup is on Race Day: 7:45 am - 9 am. Same day registration available at 7:45am.
Time: 9:15 am Presentation of the Colors by the Irish Marauders & National Anthem sung by a small group from Notre Dame's Liturgical Choir. Opening Remarks by veteran Justin Walker Naval Special Warfare Veteran, Entrepreneur, and the Executive Director for the Bunker Labs iin Chicago. Race starts promptly at 9:30 am EST!
T-shirts guaranteed for registrations made through midnight on March 6th. We purchased extra shirts and assigned them as registrations came in.
Race Day Schedule:
7:30 am: Parking in (D) Bulla Lot. Restroom info will be available on race week due to the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
7:45 am-9:00 am: Packet pickup at race start; north ND stadium entrance & south Library Quad on Moose Krause Circle.
9:15 am: Irish Marauders presentation of the colors, National Anthem, Opening Remarks
9:30 am: The 5k & 10k race starts!
10:00 am-12:30 am: Finish line celebration. Bagels & Hot Chocolate, Sample Sandwiches, Pizza, and more!
10:25am Begin announcing 5K Awards
10:45am Gary Sinise Foundation Ambassador MSG John Masson, Inspiration over adversity; completed NYC, Chicago, & LA Marathons
11:00am MEDAL OF HONOR RECIPIENT, Sammy L. Davis, also called the "Real Forrest Gump"

ALL PACKET PICKUPS ARE ON RACE DAY: Packet pickup starts at 7:45am-9:00am at the race start on race day. Runners under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent to participate: waiver . All adult runners must also complete a race waiver to run! Plan to quickly sign a waiver when you check in. If you completed the online waiver, you will have a "Y" on your bib label.
GEAR CHECK WILL BE AVAILABLE: 7:45am - 11am. Small bags please & limit valuables. You will need your bib # to pick-up.
LOCATION OF CHECK-IN & RACE START: Between the north gate of the Notre Dame Football stadium and the south lawn of the Hesburgh Library Quad. The Post-Race Celebration is also here, there will be food for participants to the left of the American Flag display!
RESTROOMS: Restrooms are available in the Hesburgh Library, which is just past the display of 800 American Flags on the Library Quad. The entrance is just under the Touchdown Jesus Mural & opens at 8am.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Runners will pass Notre Dame's iconic landmarks including the Golden Dome, "Stonehenge", St. Mary's Lake, the Thomas A. Coleman Firehouse, 'Touchdown Jesus', and Notre Dame Stadium.
AWARDS: There will be an overall male & female winner for the 5k & 10k who will receive a plaque & $100 gift certificate to Fleet Feet Sports Mishawaka! Medals will be awarded to the winners of the following Age Groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over. Thank you to race sponsor Fleet Feet Sports-Mishawaka for their support. *If you can't stay to receive your award, let us know and we will put it asside for you.
Weather: The race will take place in all weather conditions, unless notified by University officials. We regret refunds will not be issued.
